Moving again: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU$#($*&K!

Sometimes I really think I am dumb for being a homebrewer. Not just an average beer-obsessed homebrewer, but one that does not own an home and insists on brewing multiple beers that take over a year to age.

All the beers above, except for one carboy, were down in the crawlspace of our home, which meant I had to crawl down to a soot-covered, uneven dirt floor where I can barely crouch, and lift them over my head through a 2x3 foot hole above me. Luckily none of them broke and all my major arteries are still intact.

That was just the stuff in the crawlspace. There was also a large deep-freeze kegerator, a dorm fridge, various bottles both empty and full, and 9 cornies which all had beer in them. And a metro-shelf. And 3 keggles. And the propane burner, and lots of little stuff.

This is my last move in Portland, unless we for some reason buy a house. I'm seriously thinking about pairing down the homebrewing equipment to a single 10 gallon system, and brewing less often. It would seem to fit in better with the fact that I am brewing at work now.

Don't even let me get started on moving out the 3 garden beds and laying down sod! Damn, I need a beer. Right now. Cheers.

Hopefully the new place is worth all the effort. The last time I moved I had just taken the summer off from brewing plus had some time to bottle a few batches before moving.

I hear you dude. I actually stopped brewing about two months ago in anticipation of moving. I'm hoping to have all carboys, kegs, etc... emptied by the time we move. The bad news is that the kegerator won't fit anywhere in the house so I have to sell the current one and build a new one.

I know the feeling man. Aging freezer, multiple carboys, I had to also rack an entire barrel just to get it out of the closet. No more dammit! no more moving!

Get yourself a "tiny house" (http://tinyhouseblog.com/craigslist-ad/the-eclipse-gypsy-caravan/), turn it into a custom mobile brewshed, park it on your rented property, done.

I feel your pain, I havent got to the aged beers in fermenters thing yet but have had to move from a place with a shed to an appartment, the lowlight of breaking up with the ex. I now brew 150km from where I ferment. Still though moving brewing gear sucks arse.

girlfriend owns this house. we moved over the winter. 16 full carboys and over 30 cases plus all the equipment. took a wide turn with a lambic on the floor of the passenger side of a civic and the stopper popped off spilled 2 year old sour goodness on the dash and door. smelled like lambic for like 2 weeks.

You're lucky you have the crawl space to do this. I make wine because it takes a little less space. But still try doing that in a cramp one-bedroom Central London flat. I've got to the point that I can't find the table...
